How Pixeled Eggs Redesigned The King's Foundation Website
The King's Foundation's old website was fragmented and hard to manage, and its story was getting lost. Pixeled Eggs brought the Foundation, its centres and The School of Traditional Arts together on one site.

The King's Foundation is a charity dedicated to building thriving, sustainable communities and transforming lives. With The School of Traditional Arts, it runs education courses and health and wellbeing programmes, and leads placemaking and regeneration projects in the UK and internationally.
The Challenge
The Foundation's website was built on outdated technology. It had become fragmented and cumbersome, with no clear structure, so it was hard for the team to manage and for visitors to navigate. The storytelling at the heart of the Foundation's mission was lost, and The School of Traditional Arts struggled to engage prospective students because its content was buried.
Stakeholder workshops set five aims:
- Tell the story better.
- Make things easier to find.
- Make things easier to manage.
- Modernise the interface while keeping the charity's refined, nature-led look.
- Improve SEO, accessibility and inclusion.
The Approach
Audiences first. Pixeled Eggs built personas and mapped user journeys, ran vision, audience and user-needs workshops, and kept the thinking and decisions on a shared Miro board.
A tested structure. Tree testing on the Useberry platform checked the proposed information architecture with representative audiences.
One proposition. The work followed a single proposition: unite the Foundation, the centres and the School under one roof, and tell their story in a way visitors could be part of. Pixeled Eggs audited years of content, reorganised it around user needs and designed new routes for visitors to find ways to get involved.
A design system. A comprehensive design system and content patterns let the team publish without losing brand integrity, and grow the site over time.
The Outcome
Since launch in December 2024, site visits have risen 135%, mainly through organic channels, helped by SEO, better accessibility and optimised Core Web Vitals. The site is easier to use and simpler for the team to manage.
