When your goal is to foster deep engagement and collaboration across tens of thousands of employees scattered worldwide, how do you ensure meaningful participation? For HSM Advisory, the answer lies in their 72-hour Collaboration Jams — facilitated online discussions that enable multinational organisations to engage their workforce on important cultural and strategic issues.

With clients such as PwC, HSBC, Linklaters, and Dentons, HSM’s Jams have helped shape change for numerous organisations. However, to maintain the reliability and scalability needed for these critical global conversations, HSM required a robust digital platform. That’s where Moriyama stepped in.

The Challenge

HSM’s growing demand for their Jams platform highlighted the need for a more scalable and reliable solution that could handle high user traffic, ensure 24/7 availability during the discussions, and securely manage and analyse large amounts of data.

Key challenges included:

  • Ensuring the platform could handle thousands of concurrent users.

  • Maintaining seamless uptime over the 72-hour Jams.

  • Creating a system that was easy to use for participants, admins, and facilitators alike.

  • Integrating secure data management and robust reporting capabilities.

Why Moriyama?

HSM needed a trusted technology partner capable of rapidly delivering a minimum viable product (MVP) and continuously evolving the platform. Moriyama, with its deep expertise in .NET, Azure cloud technologies, and commitment to agile development, was the perfect choice. Their track record of delivering scalable, secure, and user-friendly digital solutions made them the ideal partner for this project.

Our Approach

Moriyama adopted a cloud-native solution using Microsoft Azure to meet the scalability and reliability needs of HSM’s Jams. The approach included:

Fast MVP Development: With just 12 weeks to launch, Moriyama developed a minimum viable product that was thoroughly tested for performance and reliability.

Cloud Scalability: Utilising Azure’s cloud infrastructure, the platform was designed to handle high traffic and thousands of concurrent users without compromising performance.

Content Delivery Network (CDN): To enhance user experience, files were served from the closest location to users, speeding up content delivery.

Advanced Search and Caching: Cognitive search and smart caching were implemented to streamline content indexing and analysis, ensuring quick responses for both administrators and users.

Ongoing Improvements: Continuous collaboration between HSM and Moriyama has led to regular feature updates, such as tagging, @ mentions, and topic pinning, aimed at improving user engagement and the overall Jam experience.
